supercomputers in operation at the time. The only factor that was in consonance with the other supercomputers of the time was the ‘Interconnect’ that utilized a ‘Fat Tree Topology’. Using the technological advancements put into operation only for our project, we created the system with a speed of 1.5 ExaFLOPS (1 ExaFLOPS = 1018 FLOPS (Floating Point Operations Per Second)). The total memory of the system, including the CPU and GPU memory, stood at 2048 PiB (Pebibyte). Despite the huge size and the lighting speed, the system was built in quite an energy efficient manner and was definitely not a power guzzler like many of its predecessors. Its energy efficiency was calculated at 7800 LINPACK MFLOPS / WATT. The total power consumption of the complete project site, including the Computer System Unit, stood at a whopping 200 MW.

The operational control room comprised of a huge room with one wall completely built of glass to overlook the system as it gave a complete view of the system from overhead. The wall directly opposite to the glass wall was decked with computer screens with nothing of the wall visible. In the huge panel of screens, there were three big screens silhouetted by sixteen smaller ones. Those three were named, quite unimaginatively, Primary Monitor 1 (PM1), Primary Monitor 2 (PM2) and Primary Monitor 3 (PM3). All major messages from the system used to flash on PM2. PM1 and PM3 were for deeper analysis for every red flag put up by the system against major criminal activities.

We had already run initial and mandatory tests on the system and it had come out with flying colors. However,
